What Argyle glass asks for

Argyle sits on land. Lots here mostly run from one to two and a half acres, and the houses are built to match — two stories, set well back from the road, with the tall window walls that face out over the property. That's a lot of glass, and a lot of it is above the reach of a ladder leaned against a flower bed.

Height is the practical problem, and it's the reason a lot of Argyle windows get cleaned on the inside and neglected on the outside. Second-story glass over a sloped bed or a rock border is awkward to reach safely, so it gets skipped, and the film builds year over year until the view goes flat. Reaching it properly is most of the job out here.

The other half is what open land does to glass. Acreage means wind, and wind carries the dust off the fields and the county roads straight onto the west-facing panes. Add the irrigation most properties this size run, and the mineral spotting that comes with it, and you get glass that needs a real clean, not a wipe.

What we look for

Three things that show up on Argyle glass.

  • Two-story and above-ladder glass

The panes that get skipped every year because they're awkward to reach. Reaching them safely is the job.

  • Irrigation spotting

Sprinklers on an acre lot throw further than you'd think. Minerals bake onto the glass in the Texas sun, and the longer they sit the harder they're to take off.

  • Field and road dust

Open land means wind-carried grit on the exposed elevations. It cuts the light long before anyone calls it dirty.

Good to know

Argyle questions, answered.

  • Do you work the properties out on acreage?

Yes — that's most of what Argyle is, and most of what we do. Larger homes on bigger lots are our normal job, not an exception we charge extra to handle.

  • Can you reach second-story windows over landscaping?

Yes. Beds, rock borders and sloped ground are the usual reason upstairs glass gets left dirty. We carry the gear to reach it without standing in your flower bed.

  • Can you do the driveway and the windows on one visit?

Yes. Long driveways and stone entries are worth washing while we're already out. Add power washing to the estimate form and we'll look at both when we come.
